6th Annual
2024 Women of Color Roar
Annual Breakfast - Saturday, February 3, 2024
1313 Park Boulevard San Diego CA 92101
Sadly, the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation suffered severe flood damage last week. We are deeply grateful to San Diego City College for generously accommodating our event on such quick notice and modeling an extraordinary commitment to our mission and shared community in our time of need.
Donate to help cover increased costs of new venue
Except during Covid, our annual Women of Color Roar Breakfast was held at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation in Southeast San Diego. This treasured community resource was severely damaged during the recent floods causing all events to be cancelled. San Diego City College immediately stepped in to offer their Harry West Gym as an alternate location. They went even further by waiving their rental fees and covering many of the typical fees associated with renting their space and paid half of our table rentals. Nevertheless, we did incur unexpected expenses to bring our 6th annual Women of Color Roar breakfast to life at a new venue in just 3 days!
Our attendees learn how important it is to provide an annual space to celebrate Women of Color and provide an opportunity for future leaders of color to see women who look like them in positions of power, in leadership roles, and civically engaged.
Funds raised during this event not only need to cover our expenses, but this is also the springboard for our Leadership Academy, an endeavor launched in 2023 to provide workshops and in-depth training to prepare young Women of Color for jobs in public service and government.
We hope you will consider a donation, no amount too small, to help us cover our additional and unexpected costs. Another tremendously helpful option is to join our Rafiki Circle, by becoming a sustaining monthly donor. Click HERE to donate today!

With deep gratitude,

6th Annual Women of Color Roar Breakfast:
Our Time - Sixty Years of Triumph
From Fannie Lou Hamer being beaten and jailed for trying to vote to Black Women serving as Secretary of State, Vice President of the United States and on the Supreme Court. We have Black women mayors in major cities, serving in congress, and state legislatures. In San Diego, we have elected the first Black woman to the County Board of Supervisors.
We will honor and celebrate the progress we've made.
